SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 24, 2026 – UT Health San Antonio, the academic health center and health system of The University of Texas at San Antonio, has been named one of America’s Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals 2026 by Forbes, earning a place among just 250 healthcare organizations nationwide recognized for creating strong workplace environments for healthcare professionals.
The national recognition, developed by Forbes in partnership with market research firm Statista, is based on an independent survey of more than 30,000 employees working for healthcare and social services organizations across the United States. Participants evaluated employers on factors including working conditions, compensation, career advancement opportunities and workplace safety, as well as their willingness to recommend their employer to others. Only the 250 healthcare organizations receiving the highest scores nationwide were included in the 2026 Forbes list.
The institution made the list of the nation’s top 250 healthcare employers in only the second year of the category’s existence, although UT Health San Antonio previously made the Forbes list of “America’s Best-In-State Employers” three times (for 2021, 2022 and 2023) from all companies and institutions with major operations in Texas.
“Not only are we one of the country’s leading academic health centers and health systems with missions in teaching, research, patient care and community engagement, we’re also one of the most desirable workplaces for healthcare professionals,” said Francisco G. Forbes selects America’s Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals from an independent survey over the past three years of over 30,000 U.S. employees working for healthcare and social welfare providers with at least 1,000 U.S. employees.
The 5-8 minute online survey asked respondents which firm or institution they work for in an open-ended question. The final score is based on personal evaluations (given by employees themselves) and public evaluations (given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry). The final result is the top 250 Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals.
Employers were assessed in an overview of “personal driver prompts” giving an indication of employee preferences, categorized across six dimensions including atmosphere and development, company culture, salary/wage, working conditions, image and workplace.
